Survey overview

Survey purpose

  • The pilot survey is carried out to improve the ability to cope with survey environment and field survey situation for successful performance of the 2025 Population and Housing Census.
  • The pilot survey is conducted to derive the optimal implementation plan for the 2025 census by applying challenge tasks that are derived through the 2020 census.
  • The pilot survey is carried out to develop survey items and evaluate their feasibility by reflecting needs of major policy makers, respondents and statistical users.

  • Survey reference period: November 1 (Wed.), 2023 at 00:00
  • Survey period: Oct. 16 ~ Nov. 17, 2023 (Reference time point: Nov. 1, 2023 at 00:00)
    • Internet (or mobile) survey, CATI : Oct. 16 ~ Oct. 31., Interviewing method : Nov. 1 ~ Nov. 17.
      * While the interviewing method is applied, the Internet survey and CATI are also adopted.

Target population

  • Target population : Koreans and foreigners residing in the survey region as of the survey reference time point (Nov. 1, 2023 at 00:00) and their living quarters
  • Survey region : Jungnang-gu, Seoul / Asan-si, Chungnam / Wanju-gun, Jeonbuk

Survey method

  • Survey guidelines are distributed to respondents and the questionnaire is filled out by respondents over the Internet (mobile). (Computer-Assisted Self-Interviewing (CASI), mCASI)
    • Enumerators fill out the questionnaire for respondents who didn't take part in the census by using the table PC. (Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI))
    • When a respondent wants a telephone survey, the census is carried out through the call center. (Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI)). (Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI))
